The Young Screen Actor + Filmmaker is the only program for 11 years to 14 years in Australia that arms aspiring young actors with the tools to act up a storm, make lifelong friends, learn from the industry’s leading coaches and build a 20-minute short film for the cinema screen.

You will travel on a fun and educational adventure with your new acting friends and master your connection to the truth of the moment in front of and behind the camera. Your coaches are trained to inspire you every step of the way, and our YAA Screen Acting syllabus has been created to unveil a brave, skilful, and playful approach to acting and filmmaking.

Young Actors Assembly commissions a professional script writer each year to produce a library of scenes that aim to educate and inspire you with original ideas. You will learn how to memorise, rehearse and shoot showreel scenes inside and outside the studio and your footage is uploaded to your secure online profile to showcase your journey to family and friends at home.

Working on a film set is every young actor’s dream. Over three days of the September School Holidays, you will work with a professional crew of filmmakers, build real-world connections, and act up a storm in your own short film!

In December, you will proudly walk along the red carpet with your cast mates and celebrate your achievements on the big screen with family and industry guests at our end-of-year Young Actors Awards cinema showcase.

Before signing up to the Young Screen Actor + Filmmaker Program, we require parents to set up a Discovery Call to see if this program is right for you.
