Young Actors Assembly (YAA) Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions outline the responsibilities, expectations, and legal agreements that apply to all students and families participating in Young Actors Assembly (YAA) programs. By enrolling in any YAA program—including classes, retreats, workshops, and filmmaking projects—you agree to comply with the following conditions. This document ensures transparency around enrolment, payment, cancellations, conduct, intellectual property, privacy, and child safety. Please read carefully before signing or completing enrolment.
0. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions:
- "YAA" means Young Actors Assembly.
- "Participant" means the student enrolled in a YAA program.
- "Parent/Guardian" means the legal parent or guardian of the Participant.
- "Program" includes all weekly classes, annual courses, retreats, masterclasses and workshops.
- "Commencement Date" means the official start date of the relevant program.
1. Cancellation and Student Absence
- 1.1) No refunds will be given upon commencement of programs.
- 1.2) No refunds or credits are issued for missed classes regardless of reason. Refunds are only issued if YAA cancels a class and no alternative is offered.
- 1.3) If YAA cancels a class, a refund, credit, or alternative class of equal value will be offered.
- 1.4) Deposits are non-refundable. Cancellation is only permitted within five business days of enrolment. Any instalments already paid are non-refundable.
- 1.5) Creative Kids Vouchers are valid within one calendar year.
- 1.6) Substitution of participants is not permitted without written approval.
2. Conditions of Enrolment and Participation
- 2.1) Attendance: Consistent attendance is expected. Excessive absences may impact participation.
- 2.2) Communication: Parents/Guardians must keep contact details updated and check communications regularly.
- 2.3) Classroom etiquette: Respectful behaviour is required at all times.
- 2.4) Clothing and footwear: Participants must wear appropriate clothing for movement and studio work.
- 2.5) Assignments and script responsibility: Participants must bring required materials to each class.
- 2.6) Participation in filming: Screen acting students agree to take part fully in filming modules.
- 2.7) Consent: Enrolment confirms permission for involvement in all class activities unless otherwise stated.
- 2.8) Intellectual property: All scripts and recordings created during YAA programs are owned by YAA or jointly owned as per project agreements. They may not be distributed or monetised without written consent.
3. Payments
- 3.1) Prices are in Australian Dollars.
- 3.2) Early Bird Discounts apply to Weekly Classes only.
- 3.3) Annual programs are billed in 11 monthly installments.
- 3.4) You agree to Stripe recurring payments.
- 3.5) Credit card and gateway fees may be passed on to the customer.
- 3.6) Payment is complete when funds have cleared.
- 3.7) If a payment fails, YAA will contact you to resolve the issue. If payment remains outstanding after reminders, a $20 late fee may be added to the next instalment.
- 3.8) Continued non-payment may result in debt recovery action. YAA will make reasonable attempts to resolve payment issues before proceeding with formal recovery.
- 3.9) All legal and administrative costs associated with debt recovery are the responsibility of the Parent/Guardian.
- 3.10) Tuition instalments must be paid in advance each month.
- 3.11) Participants in arrears may not attend.
- 3.12) Disruption or breach of terms may result in suspension or termination without refund.
- 3.13) Refunds are not provided for change of mind.
- 3.14) If withdrawing, written notice must be provided within five business days of enrolment.
4. Safety and Wellbeing
All reasonable precautions will be taken to prevent accidents. Parents/Guardians must disclose relevant medical needs. In an emergency, YAA may seek medical care. All associated costs are the responsibility of the Parent/Guardian.
5. Child Safety and Studio Code of Conduct
YAA follows National Child Safe standards. Respect, punctuality and inclusive behaviour are expected. Bullying or disruptive behaviour may result in removal without refund.
6. YAA On Location – Holiday Workshops
- 6.1) Full payment is required at enrollment.
- 6.2) Refunds only if cancelled 14 days prior minus a $20 fee. Within 14 days, non-refundable.
- 6.3) YAA may refuse admission for behavioural concerns.
- 6.4) Parents consent to photography/filming.
- 6.5) AWithdrawn consent must be submitted in writing.
- 6.6) Bounced payments incur a $20 fee.
- 6.7) Timetables and pricing may change.
- 6.8) Workshop participants agree to Sections 1–5.
7. Filmmaking Module - Casting and Screen Time
Short films are ensemble-based. Roles are distributed to serve the story. YAA does not guarantee line count, role size or screen time. Disputes about casting or creative decisions will not be accepted.
8. Confidential Information
All program design and communication is confidential and may not be shared.
9. Disputes
YAA encourages mediation before legal action. NSW law governs all agreements.
10. Force Majeure
YAA is not liable for service interruption caused by events beyond control. Credits or rescheduled programming may be offered.
11. Online & Digital Delivery
YAA may deliver classes online. Recording sessions without permission is not allowed.
12. Privacy Policy
YAA complies with the Privacy Act 1988. Personal information is stored securely and used for communication and delivery of programs.
